Everyone enjoys relaxing at home after a busy week while watching TV and movies, listening to music, and playing some video games. The problem is, most homes don’t have a space properly dedicated to entertainment, it’s usually just a TV stuck in the corner that’s not even connected to the stereo, and a computer on a desk in the kitchen! It doesn’t have to be that way. Here are some tips for creating an audio-visual home entertainment centre that is at the next level! Pick a room where everyone can sit comfortably and let’s get started!
The Sound – You may be surprised that sound is the most immersive sense when enjoying audio-visual media. Start with a high-quality soundbar directly in front of the main screen as the keystone of a dynamic surround sound system will make you feel like you are in a real movie theatre! Having glorious sound emanating from all directions will create the ultimate immersive experience! Install a subwoofer in all four corners to enhance that exciting low-frequency effect that makes the room really rumble! Every sound, including dialogue and music, will be so up close and powerful that you will feel like you are actually in the show or game!
The Visuals – Having the right screen is essential to making your new home entertainment centre an awesome thing to see! The visuals are the star of the show and they need to be big for maximum effect! Install a large-screen HDTV that offers a bright and clear picture under any lighting conditions. If you want to go really big then you should opt for a projector partnered with the biggest projection screen you can fit on your wall! Of course, the room needs to be dark to make your viewing experience as vivid as if you were sitting in an actual cinema, but that’s no problem, it’s just part of the fun! Don’t forget to add a curtain for maximum movie house effect! Popcorn, anyone?
The Snacks – Speaking of popcorn, be sure to make your movie night or game tournament complete with some yummy snacks, they are a critical component of great entertainment wherever you happen to be! Having a dedicated snack station and mini-bar set up where it’s easily accessible makes any entertainment experience more special, snacks add an extra level of comfort and joy! Keep it simple with convenient snacks like popcorn, crisps, and drinks that are easy to handle in the dark and won’t make too much of a mess if there is a spill!
The Lights – This is another level of detail that most homes simply fall short on. Today’s LED fixtures don’t run hot and the brightness can be easily adjusted according to the mood you want to set for the night’s featured entertainment. Install some indirect lighting around the edges of the floor that won’t place any glare on the screen so you can move safely about if needed (getting more snacks, followed by a bathroom break!). These low lights add great atmosphere to the space. When the curtain goes up the lights go down and the magic begins!
Having a dedicated home entertainment centre can make every night at home a special one!
